Spot Illustrations

I will be appearing today at Mott Community College in Flint, MI (my home town) today Mar. 4th (the only day of the year that is also a command) from 11am-2pm at the Phral Center . If you are in the area, hope to see you! I'll have books to sign, answer questions and if time permits, I may do some sketches.

For the RPG I have been doing a bunch of new spot illustrations. Some are for the chapter headers, others are just to throw in to give a sense of setting or mood. Here are a few that I colored Monday:

  1. These are georgous!
I was in at Strange Adventures, the local comic shop the other day and they said your stuff sells well there, they even have the PVC's and a plush mouse! If you're ever in the neighborhood.... I mentioned to them the idea of you doing a signing and they were really interested.

  2. You are truly an amazing artist and author. I want to thank you with all my heart for capturing my little reluctant reader. My eight year old son, Payton sleeps with his stuffed Lieam pressed to his chest, and he wears his awesome Lieam t-shirt as soon as it comes out of the dryer. He cannot wait for your next Winter 1152 comic to be released. He wants to be an artist and author just like you. May you be blessed with the appreciation and love that you so deserve. Once again, thank you being that perfect flame that lit a precious fire.

  3. March 4th... hee hee. Had not heard that before. The illos look great, David. They'll be a really nice addition to the RPG. They make me want to jump in and have an adventure. Looking forward to it's release and playing it.

  8. Thanks for all the kind words folks. I'm glad you enjoyed the glimpse of RPG spot illos. I had a lot of fun doing pieces that reflected directions I want to take Mouse Guard and to reinforce the mythos I already have going.

Anonymous(e) you asked about appearances, I have my full list noted on the www.mouseguard.net website.

  9. I don't know of this comment will actually go through as I don't have a URL for you to answer me. I just discovered your artwork and it's grand. I've been painting in oils all my life and have recently been interested in learning illustration. I've written 3 children's story books and I would like to see if I could illustrate them. I'm 71 yrs. old and don't have a decent school near me. Can you recommend any books on illustration that would teach me the basics they teach in a classroom? I can't find any out there. You may reply to this by emailing me at triciart@aol.com. Would love to hear from you.
